I HAVE A 2 ACER APPLE ORCHARD WITH 500 DWARF TREES. THE EXPERTS SAY THAT FROM THE TRUNK OUT THERE SHOULD BE NO GRASS OR WEEDS TO COMPETE WITH THE ROOTS FOR WATER AND NUTRIENTS. I NEED A TRACTOR-TILLER COMBINATION WHICH WILL REACH IN AND TILL FROM THE DRIP LINE TO THE TRUNK, APROX 36 TO 60 INCHES. SINCE THE TRACTOR REAR TIRE WILL NOT GO UNDER THE TREE, THE TILLER MUST OFF SET SO THAT IT CAN REACH OUT PAST THE REAR TIRE. I HAVE LOOKED AT THE 2910 AND IT SEEMS TO MEET MY POWER REQUIREMENTS ALONG WITH BEING LIGHT SO I'M NOT CONSTANTLY COMPACTING THE SOIL IN THE ORCHARD. THE TILLERS I HAVE SEEN ARE OFFSET 58 INCHES FROM CENTER, AND REQUIRE 25 TO 40 HP. DO YOU THINK THE 2910 IS RIGHT, AND WHATS THE GOING PRICE WITH A LOADER. ANY HELP APPRECIATED

Lawrence, I have a B2710 and I've looked over the 2910s and the differences lately. I'd say the 2910 would be a very good choice for you. As for price, click on the Carver Equipment banner on this forum and look at the prices they have posted. ....

Just out of curiosity, how deep to you plan on tilling? A lot of those roots are pretty superficial I believe and the tillers can do a lot of damage to them especially on fruit trees. If it works though, I might try it on my trees. ....
